Venchi chocolates was founded in 1878 by Silvano Venchi, its original premises being in Via degli Artisti in Turin. It immediately acquired national fame with its Nougatine (a candy made of ground and candied hazel-nuts, covered in plain chocolate) still produced today according to the same traditional recipe. Today Venchi is much more than a craft confectionery business, although much of its fine confectionery is hand made.
